1. INTRODUCTION

This handbook is intended to help you take full advantage of your YANMAR engine or other
YAN MAR product.

Before starting the engine/product, read this handbook and the engine/product Operation
Manual carefully. (If the engine/product Operation Manual has not yet reached you, contact
your nearest YANMAR distributor or dealer.)

A Delivery Report is included as the last page of this handbook. Upon acceptance of your
YANMAR engine/product, make sure the Delivery Report is duly filled out.

Make certain that the Delivery Report is signed by the YANMAR distributor. dealer, or
supplier who delivered your YANMAR engine/product and that the “Date of Delivery" is
properly entered on the Delivery Report. Have the final supplier of YANMAR engine/
product offer explanations on YANMAR engine/product as well as Warranty conditions to
your full satisfaction. Then. sign it yourself.

This handbook, including the Delivery Report, must be presented when you wish to receive
YANMAR Warranty Service. Otherwise, some other evidence will be required. to verify the
start of the Warranty Period for the engine/product.

2. YANMAR LIMITED WARRANTY

WHO GIVES ND WHO RECEIVES THIS WARRANTY

YANMA CO., LTD. ("YANMAR") warrants to the original retail purchaser only that
each new YANMAR Engine / Product purchased from an authorized YANMAR
distributor, dealer, or other manufacturer (OEM, boat builder and their distributors
and dealers) shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal
use and service during the Warranty Period set forth below.

This Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary
by country or from state to state.

WARRANTY PERIOD

The Warranty Period begins on the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser. The date
of delivery and all other relevant information must be recorded on the Delivery Report inside
this handbook.

The following table lists the warranted duration or total operation hours for each YANMAR
engine and associated product.

NOTE 1- Electrical components such as starter motor, alternator, dynamo and
turbocharger are covered under this Warranty for the first 12 months or 1000
operating hours from the date of purchase whichever comes first.

NOTE 2. For a personal-use marine diesel engine and its accessories for pleasure
boats, the following parts are covered under this Warranty for the first 60
months or 3000 operating hours whichever comes first.

[Cylinder block, cylinder head, crankshaft, camshaft, flywheel housing,
gear case, timing gear and connecting rod ]

NOTE 3: For engines equipped with the Mercruiser-made Stem Drive (Bravo series),
the mixing elbow connected between the engine and the Stern Drive as well
as the exhaust tube are warranted for 12 months or the first 500 operating
hours, whichever comes earlier.

The above warranties (by duration or operation hours) begin on the date of delivery
recorded on the Delivery Report and are valid only for the original retail purchaser.

YANMAR shall honor a claim tiled during the Warranty Period, duration or operation
hours, whichever comes first; provided however.- that operation hours shall apply only
to YANMAR products equipped with an hour meter.

YANMAR HEREBY DlSCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES AFTER THE APPLI-
CABLE EXPIRATION DATE OF THE EXPRESS LIMITED WARRANTY. Some states
or countries do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the
above limitation may not apply to you.

[When you purchase the YANMAR engine as well
as the Stern Drive (Bravo series) made by Mercruiser]

The Stem Drive is guaranteed for one year or 500 operating hours, whichever cor
first. lf within such warranty period the drive fails, Mercruiser will repair it free
charge.

Please fill in the "Warranty Registration Card" that comes-with the Stern Drive, and
send the card to the corrected Mercruiser channel.

WHAT IS COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY

YANMAR will replace or repair, at its option, without charge for the parts or labor, at
place designated by VAN MAR, any parts ol a YANMAR engine/product covered by
Warranty found to be detective in material or workmanship.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY

This Warranty does not cover parts affected, damaged, or depreciated by misuse,
abuse, improper maintenance, neglect, use of unsuitable attachments or non genuine
parts, ordinary wear, rust or corrosion, inadequate transportation, accident, or service
by an unauthorized facility.

Consumable parts. such as filters, belts, gaskets, packings, hoses, fuses, brushes,
injection nozzle valve, lubricant, protective zinc coat, thermostat, ignition plug, a
blower cleaning liquid, are not covered under this Warranty. All expenses incurred
maintaining and replacing them shall fall on the purchaser.

This Warranty does not obligate YANMAR to bear any tees tor transportation of
YANMAR engine/product lo and from the place designated by YANMAR for Warn
Service.

YANMAR MAKES NO OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTIES OTHER THAN SET FOR
ABOVE, AND ALL OTHER OB LIGATIONS OR LlAB1LITlES, INCLUDING SPECIAL
CONSEOUENTIAL DAMAGES OR CONTINGENT LIABILITEES ARISINGOUT OF
FAILURE OF ANY YANMAR ENGINE/PRODUCT TO OPERATE PROPERLY, ARE
HEREBY EXCLUDED.

No person is authorized to give any other Warranty or to assume any additional obligated
on YANMAR's behalf.

Some states or countries do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequences
or special damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
