AIR ACTIVATED CLUTCH PO - TPO MAIN FEATURES TRANSFLUID air clutches are very strong and reliable components, the technical development of which has been achieved with a few dozen years experience in the field of transmissions. Their range of performance can fulfill the most different applications, with transmittable torques up to 1170 daNm, remaining constant without requiring any further regulation. Their compressed air feeding system, while having the great advantage of being modulated with air pressure variation, can be remote controlled and automatically self compensate for wear. The main technical features are: All the operating discs are made of a high quality cast iron, with large surfaces from where heat generated with friction is easily dissipated without creating dangerous tensile stresses. The friction discs are made of a composite compound without asbestos, and are provided with external gear teeth to engage into the internal gears of the driving ring. The external dimensions are very small and for this reason the assembly phase is facilitated. The wide dimensions of the bores allow shafts with large diameters to be mounted. In normal and medium operating conditions, clutches with 2 or 3 discs can be used, transmitting a torque being twice or three times more than the corresponding one with a single disc, and leaving external dimensions unchanged. PO medium series The PO clutches with dimensions from 8" to 11" are normally provided with a CARTRIDGE type vulcanized diaphragm, made of a neoprene compound reinforced with nylon, eliminating the possibility of leakages and allows a very long duration. They are perfectly interchangeable in all their components with the corresponding Twin Disc production. TPO heavy series The core of 14" and 18" TPO clutches is an elastomeric diaphragm, obtained after a very accurate phase of research and development, coming to a longer lasting result than any other chamber or diaphragm now being used. As the engagement of heavy clutches requires a bigger air volume, they are supplied with an incorporated quick release valve. Smaller clutches are not generally fitted with such a device, unless the governor is positioned very near to it. FEATURES CARTRIDGE-type diaphragm assembly eliminates leakage problems. Threaded nut provides quick disassembly. Diaphragm formed from neoprene reinforced with nylon. Ample diaphragm travel eliminates need for wear adjustment. Insulator plate shields diaphragm from source of heat. Generous release springs provide fast, positive release. Molded non-asbestos gear-tooth driving plates furnished as standard.
